Drift.

Hello, it is almost the end of 2023. I am grateful to be able to participate in a few exhibitions and have my work included in 2 books: “Stitched Journeys with Birds” / Martha Sielman, and the second book by Phyllis Cullen and Cindy Richards: “More than Just a Pretty Face”.

The different exhibitions this year were ,SAQA NY : By Contrast, an exhibition that started in View Art Center in Old Forge NY, will travell to Binghamton NY April 24, and Bethany Center for Art in Ossining NY July 2024.

Some of my work Participated in the “Quilts Unlimited” in Old Forge NY October 2023. Also there was an exhibition of FANE: “Conceptual Garments”

As every year I participate at the annual NSQG May quilt show celebration: World of Quilts.

As part of FibeArt North -East I participated in the show at Booth Library Gallery (CT)winter show. 2023

The last exhibition of 2023 I participated with Ossining Arts Council, was at Bethany art center in Ossining NY.

Over the summer I was working on 2 exciting pieces:

“Drift”, and “Family”.

A new adventure

I am so happy to start this new adventure. This work was inspired by visiting the Kinosaito Arts Center in Verplanck NY. The old building and the angles I saw were very inspiring!

I took a few phone pictures before a sketch session with my sketch group, dreading the flies who would soon feast on my blood as I would sit down to sketch. Before I started my fabric rendition I made a quick Acrylic study.

I incorporated some Japanese fabrics, my hand dyed fabrics , and of course fabrics with big fly images. Machine quilting, and hand embroidery.
