I wanted to include one of the letters my grandfather sent from SA to Israel. I clearly was too late. my mother cleaned her space, and threw away a bundle her father’s weekly letters in Yiddish, thinking: she read her father’s letters again and again, we the granddaughters didn’t speak Yiddish. No point in saving them…..I was devastated. when my sister heard about that she said: But I have a letter from grandpa in Hebrew!

this is the letter that got incorporated in the Quilt with the image of my grandfather blowing the shofar during High Holidays in Cape-town SA.
